A Fresh Look
Hello and welome to My View for January 10, 2010.
Welcome to the first My View Post of the New Year
As the new year and decade are now underway, I searched my files for an image that might be appropriate for a fresh start. And, I found one.
Back in September of last year, I had the pleasure of visiting friends in Wisconsin and hearing a band that was new to me — although not new to my friends. Their son is in this band. The band is Fresh Cut Collective and I heard them play in Milwaukee one night in early September. Although I did not consider myself a huge fan of hip-hop music, they managed to win me over after just a few songs. The energy this group brings to the stage is highly contagious.
I chose an image of my friends’ son that I hope shows the kind of energy this young band exudes.
Wishing you all fresh new ways to look at your everyday environments as we go forth in this new year!!
As always, your comments and critiques are most welcome. They make me a better photographer, aid my growth as a person and offer me new experiences.

Hi Usha — Glad you like it. I have quite a few from that night that I need to process and get to you. At least this is a start!!

Great colors, energy, and circular movement/circles in this image — I feel like a member of the audience being drawn into the fun!
Now, all we need is the link to a sound clip.

Great image if Kiran, Marti. Sorry I had to miss this event but I was busy doing other things. The colors and lighting exemplifies passing happily into a New Year. I am sure this group gave out the energy that we all will need to go forward into our lives.
Nice choice for an image.

April and Wes — thanks for stopping by. Yes, Wes, if I remember correctly, you were still in ICU recovering from your heart surgery!! Don’t know if the hospital would have let us bring the group to you or not? Energy energy energy — it filled the space and overflowed out onto the street!!! April, did not get a sound track, but if you search YouTube for Fresh Cut Collective, you’ll find a selection.

Marti, I really like this a lot. Great lines, great energy — and even the name of the band works toward a fresh start.

A new beginning for the band, for this year and decade – and yes, Wes, you were undergoing your new beginning, too!
What a great image, Marti. I’m sure Kiran will just love it. Wish I could have heard them, too. Did you notice, it looks like there’s a “light painting” on the wall behind him!
Hugs,
Flo

Okay, here’s my original comment. Hopefully it sticks this time:
That’s a fantastic image to start the new year. His energy certainly shows. I like the colors too – bold and bright.
I like the centering of the projected image behind him, although I wouldn’t care for such a thing to be a Pabst advertisement
Shiner Bock would be okay. Or perhaps Samuel Adams

HI TJ,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, I was trying very hard to get in spot on the floor below the stage to get Kiran in the center of the projected image of the Pabst. You have to remember, this was in Milauwkee!!
